About the Dentists
Dr. Bruce Smith grew up in Michigan City, graduating from Elston High School in 1973. He graduated from Valparaiso University in 1977 followed by graduation from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1981. He began his practice that same year here in Michigan City. He is a Paul Harris Fellow and past president of the Michigan City Rotary Club contributing to community service through this organization since 1982.
Dr. Bruce and family have been lifelong members of St. Luke Lutheran Church. His freetime activities include sports, fitness training, automobile restoration and participating as a master judge in the National Corvette Restorer's Society. Dr. Smith has a great deal of skill placing porcelain veneers, crowns and bridges to artistically create your best possible smile.

Meet the new Dr. Mike: Marathon runner, dog lover and, most importantly, exceptionally skilled dentist! He’s excited to be a part of The Centre for Contemporary Dentistry, and is settling happily into his role here alongside the talented Dr. Bruce and all the wonderful staff.
Dr. Mike’s always ready to help, and is especially honored that his skill set will bring more services to people here in Michigan City; including surgery & emergency services.
Now for a little background. Born and raised in Chicago, Dr. Mike attended undergrad at Loyola University and is a proud graduate of Northwestern University Dental School—class of 1995. Since graduating, he’s spent more than 13 years practicing dentistry, from Chicago’s west side all the way to South Bend, Indiana. And while he can do it all, his focus has always been on the cosmetic and surgical aspects of dentistry.
Rest assured, Dr. Mike is wholeheartedly devoted to continuous advancement of his knowledge and skills. That’s why he’s an avid member of The International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He also regularly attends the MISCH International Implant Institute (the world’s foremost post-graduate training center for implant dentistry) and many other prestigious courses. In short, he simply wants to bring the utmost in quality and care to his patients.
Since 2004, Dr. Mike & his wife, Mara have been living happily in Valparaiso with their two dogs Dafni & Iggy. His friends and neighbors often see him running the hills of the Indiana countryside as he actively trains for the next big marathon. His goal is to run a marathon on every continent.
